Bhavani Hospital was started by the doctor couple Dr Arunachalam and Dr K U Bhavani in June 1987 as one of the first nursing homes in the south part of Salem. It was started as a 10 bedded hospital with a operation theatre catering to the patients of Salem and surrounding villages. The hospital then grew up in size to 20 beds within 5 years where all kinds of specialities were housed like paediatrics, Obstetrics and gynaecology, general medicine and general surgery and orthopaedics.

In 2000 a separate block for maternal and women’s health was built and was one of the first hospitals to start IVF and laparoscopic surgeries in Salem. Dr K U Bhavani has done more than 1000 laparoscopic surgeries and several IVF’s and IUI’s.

Now it has further enhanced its infrastructure with a full-fledged laminar flow operation theatre with C arm for high end orthopaedic surgeries. It also has an ICU with 2 ventilators and high-tech labour ward. 4D scan machine for maternal scans and Digital x ray. A full fledged computerised lab. All working round the clock to serve the community.
